Slump tell your boys to stop it! this is the Blackhawks year for injuries. Your Red Wings have had a gruling work load. Saturday should be interesting

BOB! how about these two guys for the Blackhawks................Peter Kaleta and Steve Montador? Kaleta has 2 years at 907K and Montador is a UFA at seasons end (1.2m)

Yeah, I've never actually watched a GR game in Detroit, should be cool.

I would love Montador, but I think Montador is more expensive than 1.2, I'll check cap geek, 1.2 is a number that could work though.   I sure Buffalo would love some of Chicago's 3 2nd round picks next year.   As far as Kaleta goes, I doubt he could stay healthy for 2 weeks let alone stay effective for a whole playoff series, if he was a little cheaper I think he would be worth the risk, I also want to see Stan limit risky contracts for next year as the Hawks will still have plenty to do with repsect to the cap and keeping Seabrook around.

Another guy I wouldn't mind is Paul Mara, he's only 750K and was a guy I was hoping Stan was going to sign last offseason as he was hanging around for a while.   I just responded to Kidd's poll about ANA d-men and just commented on him.  Mara is no end-all answer and will drive us crazy with some bad play, but he would be an upgrade from Boynton or Cullimore imo, and he's faster and a little better with the puck and is a monster out there.   Plenty of downside, but like I said, I like him better than Boynton or Cullimore, and he only would cost a little more.

With so many teams in the playoff hunt with capspace available, I think there will be too many buyers for the 3rd and 4th line depth players from the limited number of teams willing to sell off their depth signed for good value.   Fortunately  if Scotty and Stan see somebody they must have, they can outbid with draft picks and prospects compared to many teams.

Hey blkhwkfan! I just want to say I love your kid Crawford between the pipes. He's a beast. I watched the Hawks and Flyers today. Tall order for your Hawks to have the Wings and Flyers back to back. Good game against us by the way. I wish Kopecky would have shown a hint of what he did yesterday while he was still wearing the Winged Wheel. What an outing. Talk to you soon my friend. Central Division FTW.

Cutler grew up and played high school ball 45 minutes from where I live. You either love him or hate him around here. No inbetweens. THey have a cool amusement park in Santa Claus, IN. All bs aside. Laughing It's called Holiday World. Free soft drinks all day long and good wooden coasters. My kids like the water park. I guess it's a good place to people watch.Sealed

Anyway bring on the Devils and hope Howard keeps it close. 2pts before the break as well as the confidence booster would be nice.

That slob oprah announced she has a half sister she never knew before. Biggest news story of 2011 thus far  Wink
Oprah, you bringing Oprah up?   You almost had feeling guilty for defending my buddy Gary all the time.
Farve vid was hilarious.

Hawks losses not hilarious.   Seabrook taking another turd in defensive zone on easy play which set up Havlat for cheesy shot that beat Crawford, Hawks played tough in the first, but ran out of gas.   Only 12 home games left and they're going to be scrappin all the way to the playoffs.    I normally don't get to worked up about bad officiating, (I'll watch an AHL game to feel better about them) but the last 3 Hawk games were about the worst 3 consecutive officiated games for the Hawks I've seen since the Lyle Odelein Blackhawk era.   Calls, whistles, and no calls exceptionally bad the last three games for both ways.   Saw your post on officials Slump, was going to comment on how they don't have names anymore, but I should have known you would have had it covered before I even read it, good stuff, and nice call about the NHL's first Swedish official.   More of those coming soon, can they be worse?

Break has to be good for the Hawks blueliners, Q playing Seabrook and Keith too many minutes, and I hate what they've been doing with line changes in the 2nd, I can't get my finger on it exactly, but they're tweaking how they finish their changes imo, and it's setting up some nasty chances the wrong way.   I felt more comfortable when they were more aggressive with changes even if it meant they would give up an odd man break the wrong way occasionally, they seemed to at least create better line matchups and sustained pressure.   I think they're trying to shorten the shifts a little too much.    We'll see after the break and the start of a 6 game road trip, maybe if they ride around in a limo without shirts again, they'll build that "chemistry, grit, and character (and all the other useless terms for crap that nobody can articulate well)" to go on a streak.   Missing out on 9 pts in the month of January isn't good enough, it was their easiest month of the season, end of the fluffy schedule for this year.

What's up with Boynton in the lineup, it was nice of him to put the Hawks shorthanded for his first game back from being a healthy scratch,  Hendry in the lineup had the Hawks with a 6-2-1 record his last 9 starts, why was he scratched for Boynton, did I miss an injury or something?   I'm not a big Hendry fan, but if they had been winning with him in there what gives?   I guessing because he's bad, but I thought shutting Boynton down for a while is a good thing, and I don't miss the Cullimore experience part II.    Leddy is going to be good, can't say that enough.

Rocky Wirtz just hit my bad list for the week, it's political so you'll have to read up on it yourself.   I'm not going to post it, but I'm going to blame him for the Hawks' troubles this week going into the break, so the story is convenient for me because I need to point fingers when I gripe even if it doesn't make any sense.

Going to have to read the NHL rule book again or watch a few games in the dvr this week with no live games to watch after tonight, I don't like the break even thought the Hawks need it.    There's always the Bulls....just kidding, I'll jump on the bandwagon if they make the finals that's about it.

Maybe I'll burn Cutler jerseys with the rest of the meatball morons, hope they're careful with the lighter fluid.   NFL, and all leagues should let all players tweet or chirp or whatever that garbage is 24/7 so fans can find out who the morons are.    NFL players look like idiots bashing their own going into CBA negotiations, owners probably loved it.    I'll be paying attention to those negotiations as both sides will hire the legal consultants from that negotiation for the NHL's battle next year.    It'll be interesting.

Time to burn a jersey.Smile

Hey W4L   Yeah thanks I have been real happy with Crawford. To be honest I was worried about him in relief of Turco, but that has faded eh. Crawford is doing much better than Neimi is with the Sharks.

Slump! Congrats on the new Av man, how does that feal to have new clothes on lol I see you had to get your hammer on.

Oye BOB! I was fine (sort of) with the loss to the Flyers on a back to back with the Red Wings, but the loss to the Wild in not sitting well. I can only describe it as a pain in my gut, you know the kind you get after eating any of the food at Wrigley Field. I would much rather go to the south side and dine.

Yeah I see relief may be on the way or at least the lights are on in the Blackhawks front office. Stan had a piece in the Herald today talking about he has an ich to get a center and a blue liner before the deadline feb 28th. At this point I almost think any move will inprove this team as long as the players brought in are of the sandpaper make up. I would like to see Steve Montador on this team but he is a UFA at seasons end and could wind up here any way.

OK so yeah the superbowl.......I am going with Green Bay cause of my strong dislike for the Ben the Rapper not to be confused with Jack the ripper.

I am not so sure about my thoughts on Cutler at the moment..........Strained MCL...........yet takes the stairs when going out to eat with his GF..........All I know is he killed the Raiders (who hasn't) when he was with the Broncos. I would gladly accept him on the Raiders.

And the big news Todd Wellmeyer is once again a Cub

................And more news from the north side. Theh Cubs have signed Braden Looper and Augie Ojeda to minor league deals.

sorry bout the Cubs talk but it may be progress. Braden Looper pitched last season in Milwaukee and gave up  carere highs in ER 113 and HR 39 while making 34 starts with a 14-7 record and a 5.22 ERA. Hmmmmmm........and he is gonna maybe pitch in Wrigley?

Read over the Wirtz drama going on in Illinois and makes me glad Ilitch is mostly in the pizza business, lol
LMAO.   He lost quite a few buddies in the 300 section that work on those projects he helped shoot down funding for......unless beer and the rest of the sauce gets cheaper at the UC.

No Seabrook trade, they'll lock him up for a number of years, contract negotiations in works for a few weeks, he's the only guy that can clear the net, he'll stay.   I can't wait to read all the stupid rumors (okay I'll let myself buy into a bunch of them) that come out this week with no hockey to report on.  Nothing like reading some of the more finely manicured B.S. about the trade deadline and possible deals, I've come to appreciate the imaginations of the writers/reporters/rumor creators, should be as fun as ever this year.   Too bad more than half the franchises won't consider anybody in a trade signed past 2012 because of the CBA.   Can't watch ASG, makes my head hurt.

Yeah, NFL players morons, let them tweet, let them tweet.    They'll be a good example of what not to do for the NHL players, I agree they'll split ranks and fold to the owners, too many idiots that want their paychecks.    I won't mind 18 game schedule as long as the bump the roster to something like 57 players.  That way some of the star players injured early may actually have a chance to play at the end of the year or in the playoffs.   53 man rule antiquated anyway, expand the roster and let the studs avoid IR a little more ofter without crippling a team with roster space.   I'm shocked that you think the NFL players would be irresponsible with their paychecks Slump, I really thought you would have felt terrible for all the Travis Henrys out there.    Your avatar almost made me look for some Zubaz with the logos for some early Christmas gifts, hey they were good enough for MJ here.

Going back to just before the lockout, I was reminded of this on another post talking about the Sedin trade.   Quality stuff from Foley, nightmares for Chicago for a few years.   One of my favorite rants talking about a home player ever in sports.  Pat Foley is a pretty cool guy, and from what I heard, he actually held back a ton from that rant.

Time to read up on rumors.

HAHA Yeah I know he isnt in the mold of what would typically play for Oakland but just stating that dude isnt as bad as most in Chicago say. Now does he have the heart.........thats what everyone is asking. All I know is that he needs to have some recievers who can run routs, some of what he was working with got a little better at the end of the season. Back to Oakland............Todd Marijuanavich was more of a Raider type HA. This next season and the NFL draft will be enteresting. I know Al didnt have a hand in what happen last year cause it was too good of a draft.

Here is a short list of WRs I would like the Raiders to look at 1.Sydney Rice 2.Malcom Floyd 3.Steve Breaston 4.James Jones. However with the funky way the contract of Nnamdi Asomughas contract was drawn, cornerback is most likely the biggest hole to fill. Besides they will want to get blue collar TE Zach Miller signed first.

PCK Hey good to see ya man yeah things are begining to fall into place in my world............and the PBR is cold

Big Ben needs more of this in that game that decides who the pro football champion is (Mercy I hate that Super Bowl cant be said when talking about the game) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYVtma_Lvnw&feature=related

Slump thanks for clearing that up on Looper, I just seen the signing and ran with it. I even didnt notice that they traded Gorzilony till late yesterday, good move there. That Garza deal will end up being a good move for them in the future. I believe that is what that move is, a set up for the future. I am just hoping Hendry can find a taker for Big Dope......er......Big Z (Hello southsiders).

Bob I do agree with the Seabrook non-trade, I do kind of see the Hammer trade talk for the summer. I think Nick Leddy can quickly fill his spot, along with FA aquisition.

I too like the obscure trade rumors, I think they should have a show just on those alone during the break.

Ughhhh I hated Karpotsov!!!!! That was a great rant by Foley who I am glad is back in the booth for the Blackhawks. Besides bringing all 82 games to Hawks fans Foley was Rockeys best move.
