UFC 96 Breakdown @ Columbus
Munoz is a NCAA Division I champion and a two-time NCAA All-American wrestler.
Hamill is a three-time NCAA Division III champion.
Why Matt Hamill cannot win
Put simply, Matt Hamill cannot outwrestle Mark Munoz, thus negating his greatest strength in the UFC. Without this, his sole advantage is striking, which is mediocre/poor. Noone has seen Hamill on his back in the UFC, which against the calibre of wrestler as Munoz, is going to happen.
Why Mark Munoz will WIN
Simple strategy, put Hamill on the ground (which he will), pound his face through the mat. All of his fights (5-0) have ended by ground @ pound, this will be no different.
Final Analysis
Forget first big-time fight nerves, Munoz has dealt with this all before. The UFC stage either brakes or makes a man, without exception. Without submission skills against a far superior wrestler, the only thing to do is tap. With a suspect stand-up game coupled with somewhat inferior wrestling, Hamill loses this fight. Munoz to win TKO in the 2nd.
