The Sugar Bowl's executive director says it is an "embarrassment" that his organization made illegal contributions to former Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco.

HBO's Real Sports program is scheduled to air a segment Tuesday night on the bowl's now admitted wrongdoing. The bowl purchased three $1,000 tickets honoring the former governor in 2004 and 2006. Sugar Bowl executive director Paul Hoolahan told CBSSports.com the acts do not rise to the level of wrongdoing at the Fiesta Bowl that cost that bowl's former executive director, John Junker, his job.

"There was no intent to conceal," Hollahan said. "It does not even approximate what was going on at the Fiesta Bowl."

Junker was fired in March after it was determined contributions were being to politicians by Fiesta employees who were then reimbursed. Hoolahan says it self-reported violations to the IRS after taking questions from Real Sports.

Sugar Bowl officials did not speak on camera to HBO. Instead, Real Sports correspondent Bernard Goldberg interviewed Football Bowl Association spokesman Bruce Bernstein.

In a segment of that interview now available on YouTube, Bernstein says the Fiesta Bowl scandal was "an isolated incident. I have never heard of another instance of where a bowl organization made a political contribution."

After being informed by Goldberg about the Sugar Bowl situation, Bernstein says, "I'm not familiar with that. But if the organization was foolish enough to have done that, it will get reported ..."

In a related matter, PlayoffPAC filed an IRS complaint against the Sugar Bowl based on the new information.

In a statement, the Sugar Bowl confirmed that three tickets were purchased to two fundraising dinners honoring Blanco for a total of $3,000. After an internal audit, the bowl said it found "not other expenditures of this nature." PlayoffPAC says the total was $5,000.

The bowl added that the money has been refunded. The $3,000 will be donated to the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Fund.

"It's an embarrassment and we accept the embarrassment but five and seven years ago, it's a different age we live in," Hoolahan said. "Certainly [there has been] a lot of corrective action since then. It hasn't happed since. It's been non-recurring."

Of course the obvious difference you overlook is the fact that Democrats resign when they get caught, unlike Vitter and Ensign and so many others.  I want all of them to resign regardless of party while the GOP only wants the Democrats to resign - that is undeniable.

Why do you put "worse" in quotes like what Vitter did wasn't worse lol.  He had sex repeatedly with a prostitute and had her killed.  Weiner sent a nude pic or two out.

Gee skreffty, now you are accusing Vitter of murder.  You may want to report that as I am pretty sure that is a major offense.  Vitter is a scumbag for what he did, but he does not need you making stuff up on top of that.  You really sound idtiotic when you talk politics.

You must be talking to a mirror.  How can yo be from the state and yert so woefully ill-informed?  The young woman told everybody who would listen that Vitter was threatening her, she told her Mom and teh local paper she feared for her life, made statement's to anyone and everyone that if she was found dead is certainly wouldn't be a suicide.

She was then found dead, from hanging, even though there was no suicide note and the angle, according to local police, would have been inpossible to do herself.  We all know NOPD are worse than criminals as well.  Consider that Vitter wasn't even arrested for his prostitution and ask yourself, would his cronies really charge him with murder lol?

Now maybe you know that Vitter's right hand man is an ex-marine with a hatred of women and a violence streak.  He cut his own girlfriends face with a knife, imprisoned her, and took her phone so she couldn't report it.  Vitter then flies said ex-marine scumbag back and forth from Washington to Louisiana to go to court ON THE PUBLIC DIME.  The thug got community service at a church that had donated huge amounts of money to Vitter.  What kind of church is pro-prostitution and murder anyway?

Seriously, you must not actually live in Louisiana anymore.  This is why our state suffers - we are full of talking point sheep incapable of indenpendent thought.

Blanco is an idiot.  Someone should be fired just for including her.

I agree, but the current bozo Jindal is even worse.  Actually much worse.

Sorry Skreffty, but that is an idiotic comment.  All Jindal did was bring the state back from the brink of ruin from Blanco.  You don't have to like him, but the results speak for themselves.
Yes, the results do speak for themselves lol.  Bring the state back?  You mean by slashing revenue aand leaving our state with its largest deficit shortfall ever?  He knew the budget would be tens of millions short and he still made no cuts, which constitutionally meant that after the budget's approval they only things that could be cut are education and healthcare, the two things we shouldn't cut (what is about investment and spending money to make money that our state's GOP doesn't understand?).  How convenient.

By ignoring the revenue shortfall he created he ws able to blame the state's constitution rather than his own ineptness.  Cutting education and healthcare to all time lows are not signs of recovery lol.  Under Jindal, the tax base has shrunk, corruption has increased, he eliminated the ethics board (Yikes!  And he ran on a platform of transparency and ethic refor, - he reformed it alright), he took BPs side over the best interest's of the state, he has opposed I-49 North (he finally gave in), he is never in state while he constantly campaigns elsewhere for a bigger stage, and is well-entrenched with the gool ol boy network.  Don't even get me started on his absurd suggestion to sell the prisons, and other state assets, so he could rent them back from political donors.  Talk about stupid.  Piyush blew that one.

No LSUMC, it is not an idiotic comment to anyone even remotely aware of what is happening in Louisiana.  It is blind party loyalty for you, I get that, but I call them all out regardless of party when they screw up (as I did Blanco for her mishandling Katrina).

It would be an idiotic comment, absurd really, to say Jindal has imprioved the state in any shape or fashion, but when Vitter can re-elected by 80% through the trailer park crowd, but prayer does introspection have?  The results, or lack of them, speak very loudly indeed.

skreffty you are so full of crap you must be a politician. You only want all Republicans out of office, and trying to claim otherwise anyone in the world could see through your lies. Anyway when people start trying to talk politics and blame the other party they are easy to see through, especially on a sports board. They all lie, cheat and, steal, and the other side only wants to talk about how their sides' sins are not quite as bad as the others. Anyway go ahead and enjoy the nice little cocoon you are living in and I will be sure to point out your hypocrisy if I see it in another thread.
Interesting.  You must be running for office.  You want all democrats and moderates out of office, but claim that somehow you want all of them out.  I responded to a politics comment in kind, like you just did.  Now please explain why you are so special than you can claim some benevolent bipartisinship while denying all other like claims.  Convenient.  And now we see that you are also somehow immune to your own criticism of posting politics on a sports page.

Bravewings24, they name is hypocrite.  Pot, meet kettle...
