Missouri's Freedom of Information request

Someone's finally done it. Bravo, to the Columbia Missourian for filing a Freedom of Information ACT request with the University of Missouri.

The intent was to see if there has been any communication between the school and the Big Ten. But as you can see if you read the school's response, Missouri may have provided key information about the Big Ten negotiations by denying the request.

The school said it was protected from releasing any information that includes "sealed bids and related documents until the bids are opened," or "documents related to a negotiated contract." While Missouri would not confirm or deny whether such documents exist, that is its stance. The paper's attorney said the school's response was "correct, as long as you have contract negotiations going on."

We may have found the first smoking gun in the Big Ten expansion shoot out.

The Big 12 spring meetings are June 1-4 in Kansas City where commissioner Dan Beebe has promised to find out "who's on the plane when it takes off."

Missouri's Freedom of Information request

The odd part of the story is that the Columbia Missourian is a daily paper which is owned and operated by the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

Adam_658 is right, Mizzou would be able to hang with Illinois, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Indiana and would be at least an average team.  In other words, they would be where they are now.  Adam, you get credit for the school's new motto:

MIZZOU, STILL AVERAGE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

Yeah, but the Baseball team has had 3 sub .500 seasons since 1974. Although it looks like this season may be Losing season #4.

Their baseball team does alright in the college world series? When was their last appearance there? 1964?

Dennis

I thought your last article was shameless homer-speak that should not be allowed from a supposed "National" journalist.  Now you've followed it up with more on Mizzou.  If we find out that this is all just smoke and Mizzou is not admitted to the Big 10, you should be fired.  If we're going to have our Senior Writers write biased articles, write them about programs that people care about.  Texas, Notre Dame, USC.....these are the schools we want repeated articles about.  Not Mizzou.  Thanks to you we all know who Brian Brooks is now.  Thanks.....that's relevant.

Illini has had our number in hoops for the last decade, however, it's been Mizzou the past two seasons getting in the tourney and advancing, not Illinois.  I stand by my previous statement.

Missouri's Freedom of Information request

Only Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State have more Bowl appearances than Mizzou.  Any conference with more than eight teams is stupid.  Greed and nonsense.  p.s.  Kansas City is in Missouri and is not split over Tigers.  Including the metropolita area and the rich people who own the newspaper gives it that rep media wise, but step away from the plaza and walk around town.  No one roots for the hayjocks.

Only Ohio State, Michigan and the newly acquired Penn State have more bowl appearances.  Mizzou has more bowl wins than the other Big Ten schools have appearances.  Theres also Nuclear research, Organic theory, no.1# J school, etc. oh, you are from the Big Ten, perhaps reading is new to you.
