BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Posted on: December 6, 2009 8:35 am

If form holds – and that means Texas finishing No. 2 in the BCS – this is how the BCS bowls will shake out tonight …

BCS title game – Texas vs. Alabama
Comment:  Got to think Bama will be almost a prohibitive favorite but Texas wasn’t supposed to beat USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl either.

Fiesta Bowl – TCU vs. Boise State
Comment: Fiesta is always thinking out of the box. It becomes the first BCS bowl to match two undefeated non-BCS schools. Should be a ratings winner.

Orange Bowl – Iowa vs. Georgia Tech
Comment:  Pasty Iowans will overrun South Florida and come away schooled in the ways of the option offense.

Sugar – Florida vs. Cincinnati
Comment: Alabama didn’t want to be here last year. Will Florida coming off an SEC title game loss? Also, who coaches the Bearcats with Brian Kelly headed to Notre Dame?

Rose – Oregon vs. Ohio State*
Comment:  Might be the best game of the bunch. Chip Kelly’s wide open Quack Attack against Ohio State’s old-style defense.

*--locked in

Here is my final regular-season top five. You can see the entire top 25 later Sunday:
2. TCU
3. Texas
4. Cincinnati
5. Florida

1. Alabama
2.  Texas
3. TCU
4. Cincinnati
5. Oregon

Screw Florida, they finally played a legit team and they got schooled, they dont deserve to be in the top 5.  And USC doesn't deserve to even be in the top 25, so why are they?

ZERO!  That is the most accurate ranking that can be assigned this year and it is awared to the BCS and their cohorts who contributed to the nonsense that results in Texas being ranked #2.  Zero is the credibility of the BCS process because the national championship game does not match the real #2 team - TCU - with Alabama.

Worse, if such is possible, is the matching of Boise with TCU.  This reveals a total lack of courage as the BCS folks have taken two non-AQ teams with a  great argument for being included - one had to be - and has protected the self-annointed from the challenge of facing these teams.  Boise and  TCU should be matched up with AQ teams and the entire college football world would better for the match-ups.

The BCS process could not or would not allow for that because to do so would present the potential for poking such a huge hole in the premise of the BCS process that even their Tostitos would choke on their chips.

Great collehge football season backed up by a feeble bowl process.  Woohoo!  When does baseball start?

Iowa shouldn't be in the top 25?  What a moron.  Try logic instead of hate.

You comments show that you are biased and lack good judgement.  If I were thinking like you, I would not hesitate to tell you that TCU would be the National Champion if they were given a chance.  And my proof has a little more substance to it:  I would like to refer to Utah's spanking of Alabama last year and Utah barly beat TCU that year.

First of all, Iowa was the story of college football this year until their quarterback went down, and even then they almost beat ohio state on the road with a freshman of now Ricky Stanzi, their starting QB is on schedule to be back for the bowl game.

The BCS folks are smart!   They have decided to put up with the emotions and anger of these matchups and avoid the more SOLID PROOF that the current BCS scam can never truly declare a national champion.

The above comment is true and cannot be proven wrong by any normal fan or citizen, but the following is my personal opinion:

TCU would beat Alabama, Florida or Texas for the national title game just like the Utah Utes beat them last year!  We know that the cowardly & brainless BCS  power brokers would never permit the Mountain West to show your best teams the door two years in a row!   And I am sure that Boise State would and could beat any of the other BCS Teams (Cinci, Iowa, Georgia Tech, etc.)

Good job showing us that you or just a form of organized crime and the worst example of a systematically controlled monopoly.

Go ahead blow hards..........take you best shot!  Of course we all know that your TALK is BIG but you avoid letting us proving you wrong - at all costs!

TCU and the Mountain West Conference - NATIONAL CHAMPIONS FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!  Go ahead......prove me wrong!

i agree about the Boise- TCU matchup.  It proves nothing.  It has already happened.  To be honest, it would have been much more interesting to match Florida-Boise and TCU-Cincy or Visa Versa.

Fiesta Bowl 'outside the box' ... a 'ratings winner'...are you kidding? Much more drama letting these two take on a big boy vs. beat up on each other and allow people to say 'ah, they couldn't take Florida anyway'.

A ratings winner is when you cheer for the underdog vs. a goliath...not two are a moron (or getting paid on the side likely).
