Didn't you used to be Michigan and Nebraska?

What kind of world are we living in when Michigan is playing three quarterbacks and Nebraska is running out of tailbacks?

Rich Rodriguez revealed over the weekend that he is going to play Tate Forcier, Denard Robinson and Nick Sheridan in the opener against Western Michigan. That's not a depth chart, it's checking line for Red Berenson. It's also a slap to the Broncos who come into the Big House with more than an even chance of winning. I know this: right now, Western Michigan has a better offense than Michigan.

Please don't argue that point because you will be wrong.

They say if you have two quarterbacks, you really have no quarterbacks. So what happens when you have three, gene-splicing?

Meanwhile at Nebraska, backup tailback Quentin Castille has been kicked off the team for a violation of team rules. That news came on the same day that former tailback Thunder Collins was convicted of murder.

Some quick research showed that there was a small window there in the late 90s when Nebraska actually didn't have a future inmate at tailback. Lawrence Phillips last played in 1995. Collins arrived in 2000. Things are getting better. It took until 2009 for Castille to smoke/drink/flunk (pick one or all) his way off the team.

(I'm going to be nice and not mention that Collins and Phillips were both convicted this month, roughly within two weeks of each other. What serendipity.)

This solidifies my pick of Kansas as the Big 12 North winner. Nebraska has now lost its backup tailback and quarterback. Florida or USC can deal with those type of situations. Nebraska? One outright Big 12 North title since 1999.

Please note that Michigan and Nebraska are not only hurting, they are hurting at their signature glamor positions. They've chosen to express that lack of depth in different ways.

1st dodd nebraska isnt running out of rb they just dont have any experience behind helu/mendoza do alittle research before you say whatever you feel. 2nd what what does LP and thunders collins have to do with nebraska now in the present time??? do they have any eligibility no, are they around campus no. LP/Collins have been out of nebraska for several year now how is nebraska any responsible for what actions they do or how they behave themselves??

Nebraska? One outright Big 12 North title since 1999.let me ask you a question doesn't defense wins championship in football? the answer is yes nebraska may be young on the offense side but they return most of their defense. plus kansas has a date with ou/tex/ttech, they need to go 2-1 in those 3 meetings because every team in the north will lose to someone in the north. To make it worse if kansas losses all 3 big12 south meetings they would HAVE to beat nebraska and go perfect in the big12 north. Since you want to bring facts here some more when was the last time kansas won the big12 north, their best chance was in 07 when they had a fairly easy schedule. everyone says the big12 doesnt play defense but you need to have a some what of a decent defense because as the big12 has shown everyone can score alot of points but the better teams are the ones that can shut you down on key drives to win the game. kansas is default pick bc of their offense and they have the home field advantage but their schedule isnt friendly, and their defense wont be as strong as last year.

I got to be honest as a Nebraska fan I dont really have a huge issue with this Blog.  We don't have a lot of experience or depth in the backfield right now.  We're a hamstring and one helmet to helmet hit on our QB from having an all true freshman backfield.  That's scary.  Kansas is certainly not an unreasonable pick to win the North.  I personally question their O-Line but Reesing gives them a big edge in the north.  I still like Nebraska though I think we're better in the trenches and I also trust our young talent.  But thats why they play the games.

Hey Dodd, it must be a slow news day for you to come up with a story like this.  As for you free safety, don't act so smug, remember Colorado once had that 'model citizen' Rae Carruth playing for them.  He turned out to be a class act!!

Disgraceful excuse for journalism, Dudd!

Maybe someone needs to go after your hero Tim Tebow for performing circumcisions without medical credentials.

Honestly, what you wrote in the article above is about as un-professional as what I've just wrote. Nobody else in college football has players get arrested? How about Rae Carruth from Colorado hiring a man to murder his pregnant girlfriend? How about the pride of USC (O.J.) murdering two people in cold blood and then doing an armed robbery?

The list goes on..... people make mistakes. From all programs.

What a shameless blurb of a hit piece. This is lower than celebrity bloggers like Perezhilton!!!

I agree with blkflagmafia, defense wins. Plus, look at some recruits we will have coming in like Aaron Green and Rex Burkhead. Burkhead runs a 10.3 100 meter dash for those of you that dont know. And who cares if they playd 10 years ago and are getting in trouble now.

As a Husker fan, I don't have that much of a problem with someone picking Kansas.  The only thing that irritates me is the mention of Phillips and Collins.  It was 14 and 8 years ago respectively that these guys wore a husker uniform.  What does that have to do with Nebraska winning the north this year?

Could someone please frame Rich Rod or something so he can get arrested and we can get a real coach without a gimmicky offense with 3 damn QB's???  Come on already, wasn't last years debacle enough?  I am convinced that Ohio State is paying Rod double whatever Michigan is so he comes in and destroys every ounce of tradition the team has.  Hey Michigan AD...stop drinking the kool aid and get ready for another coaching search and overhaul.

I will be happy to say I was wrong.......if I am proven wrong Rodriguez.
