Bradford staying

Numerous sources are reporting that Oklahoma's Sam Bradford will return for his redshirt junior year. An afternoon press conference has been called.

I talked to Bob Stoops and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson at the convention. I got the vibe that they were telling Bradford he was great, but he could be better, draft-wise, if he stayed for a fourth season.

This means all three Heisman finalists are back for another run. Great news for college football fans. Pencil in Texas, Oklahoma and Florida in the top five.

It also means the Big 12 ought to start looking at its tiebreaker sooner rather than later.

Good for Him

He may have had a high draft status coming out, but he could benefit from getting some more reps in at the college level, rather than sitting on the bench for a year.

An important piece of the puzzle for OU - maybe if their linebackers stay healthy, they could stay within a touchdown of the Gators, or WV or Boise State.  This just removes one of Stoops excuses for losing next year's bowl game.  He is turning the OU program into the Vikings of the 70's, the Broncos of the 80's and the Bills of the 90's.  What is the common thread in all of OU's losses in big bowl games?  The coaching staff.

Good decision.  He is a great player, but could benefit from some more coaching and another season.  He is likely to display great strides in his play and maturity.  We must not forget that half of playing quarterback involves the cerebral aspect of things.  I did not believe he was mentally ready for the NFL, and this extra year should serve him well.  Good Luck Sam.

Oh sweet!  He can throw for a million more yards against those AMAZING Big 12 defenses!  What'll his reward be?  Hopefully contributing to another killer Oklahoma bowl performance!

This, coming from a Mizzou fan, absolutely hillarious.  Bob Stoops' Sooners have used your team and it's coaching staff for scrimmage against his second string, Oklahoma owns your team and the rest of the Big XII, thus as OU goes, so goes the Big XII.

Oh, we're still comparing conference offense and defense strength?  Well, Big 12 defenses may be bad, but I guess Oklahoma is twice as good on defense as the rest of the SEC, since they held Florida to half their scoring average.  And Florida must be 4 times as good as the other Big 12 defenses.  And how 'bout that Bama D, they really shut down Utah.  Oh wait, no they didn't.  Didn't Florida lose their bowl game last year against an inferior opponent?  Short memories out there.

Mizzou is my team - rain or shine.  Yeah they beat the crap out of us - they are supposed to.  They have beaten most everyone for 30 years.  My point, which you missed, is Stoops is the choke artist.  You attack my Tigers, which is fine - we've been respectable for two years.  Stoops must have a team that is over the top in talent to beat an opponent - if it comes down to coaching, your hosed.

I may be a Bulldawg fan, but please lord tell me that "ku" doesn't have anything to do with the friggin' Jayhawks!  And my memory isn't short, as a Georgia fan, I'm all to aware of every painful loss we've been handed over the years.  Especially by Florida AND Alabama.  Gotta stay faithful to the conference though.

Oh, and Utah would've beaten Oklahoma by only slightly less than Florida did.  And that's a fact.
